Water activities are hard on clothes and cubs don’t use their gear as much as Scouts– so old or 2 nd hand clothes are fine – it is not a fashion contest :-)
Sun Hat and / or Warm Hat
If you have glasses – tie them on
Long hair must be tied back
Sun Block – all weathers
Life Jacket (provided by St James)
Wind Breaker, or rainjacket
A wool jersey or polar fleece
A cheap Warehouse wet suit is very useful.
Shorts and Quick dry T-shirt if you have no Wetsuit
Cheap Polyprops must be worn with shorts and T-shirt. Polyprops under the wetsuit improve warmth and comfort a lot.
While sailing booties or water shoes are nice, old sneakers or reef walkers & socks are fine.
Bare feet are not allowed as there can be glass on and around the boat shed and launching ramp.
A complete change of clothes ( in addition to uniform) and a towel – Cubs get wet in boats. Plastic bag to take home wet gear
Named bag or plastic bucket to bring gear in. All gear must be named – we have enough lost property at the den!
